I haven't used the Proxy class before. But using this I do see how it's possible to make stub functions that are then overridden using the Proxy class as a sort of abstract method workaround. Thanks for the tip!

Unfortunately, the trouble with self-directed IRAs companies is that they are not investment advisors. The issue that one typically faces is that your 401K provider has limited options and you have TOO little say in what you invest in. Once you have identified a self-directed IRA provider and you move your funds there they say ok...you are now good to go and then you have to do your due dilligence to identify an opportunity to invest in and you have to keep doing that as long as you plan to self-direct. You also have to make sure that the business model that the investor subscribes to is one that you believe in.

Wim

Fantastic!

This is a great technique, not just for Facebook but for development in general. I just setup a generic 'dev' subdomain that I'll be using to tunnel back from a public URL.

the cleanest way to do a pure as3 preloader is here:

http://omar-fouad.net/blog/?p=69

which follows the FlashDevelop “ActionScript 3 Project with Preloader” template.

the only thing I do different than Omar is to name my Preloader class whatever my project is, so I get a WhateverProject.swf instead of another random Preloader.swf

I have to look at the generated script/code to see how it's actually using the name and id. Thanks for the insight on that bit.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've been struggling with this for the last hour. After spending 3 hours getting swfaddress to work in the first place!

After some testing, it turns out that you only need the ID set, not the name.

Cheers.

True. I found that out later as I started installing modules. For some reason the lynx module wasn't chosen, but the ncftp method worked well enough. Thanks for the feedback, though. It'll save time if I need to go through this again. :-)
