Easy Lynx for OS X?

Setting up CPAN for Perl on the Mac. The install asks about Lynx. So I need an easy way to install Lynx…

Lynxlet: Lynx for Mac OS X

Lynxlet is an application for launching the text web browser Lynx in a Terminal window. Lynxlet is a Termlet – a class of applications designed to make Terminal based programs easy to use.

It needs the path to Lynx though… ah… this might do it…

% /Applications/Lynxlet.app/Contents/Resources/lynx/bin/lynx

That seemed to do the trick. CPAN is now good to go… after install GnuPG and some other goodies.

  1. You don’t need Lynx for cpan to work. It’s just another alternative way to download.

  2. True. I found that out later as I started installing modules. For some reason the lynx module wasn’t chosen, but the ncftp method worked well enough. Thanks for the feedback, though. It’ll save time if I need to go through this again. 🙂
